What if Every Breath you Breathed was a Breath of LOVE?
Written by: Sonia F.
It is!
Our breath is a gift of Life.
Without thinking we breathe.
Have you ever considered how many times a day you inhale and exhale?
We breathe in and out about 22,000 times a day.
“We are powered by breathing. Our lungs fuel us with oxygen, our body’s life-sustaining gas. Our lungs breathe in air, then remove the oxygen and pass it through our bloodstream, where it’s carried off to the tissues and organs that allow us to walk, talk, and move.
Our lungs also take carbon dioxide from our blood and releases it into the air when we breathe out.
Our brain controls how fast our lungs draw in air. When we exercise or play, our brain tells our lungs to work faster. When we’re sleeping or at rest, our lungs slow down.
Our breathing and our lungs are precious.” (a)
With that said, can you imagine with me for a minute? Can you visualize the invisible oxygen to be inundated with Love, those things in life that bring you joy, peace and are heartwarming to your soul?
Would you take just 60 seconds to stop what you are doing, close your eyes, and breathe in Love. Let Love permeate every cell in your body. Feel it. Receive it.
Breathe in through your nose and slowly breathe out through your mouth. Repeat for however long you have time for. Allow love to heal you, to strengthen you, to comfort you and bring you peace.
Now, let us offer up gratitude. Thank you. Thank you for breath. Thank you for today. Thank you for the sun shining and the birds singing. Thank you. Thank you for water. Thank you for food. Thank you for the green gecko that visits me on my lanai when I eat breakfast in the morning (or whatever it is that makes you smile). Thank you.
Most of us at some point or another in this lifetime experience Trama. It’s not fun. It’s painful. It hurts and many times it’s not a consequence of our actions. It just happens.
I’ve found it healing even amid the curveball’s life has thrown at me and trauma I’ve personally had to walk through to stop and breathe. When I stop and consciously breathe while at the same time imagining love coming into my cells with each breath peace permeates my being, my perspective changes and my awareness of the people, places, and things I am grateful for heightens. This small but powerful exercise calms my nervous system and I hope it does for you as well. Try it.
And remember every breath is a gift of Life.
